This year marks a significant milestone for the Duffy & Simon VCE Law Awards as they celebrate a decade of recognising the outstanding achievements of students excelling in VCE Legal Studies. This prestigious event recognises young minds who have demonstrated exceptional understanding and passion for the field of law, setting a benchmark for academic excellence and commitment.
These awards not only acknowledge academic success but also encourage students if they are wanting to pursue a future in law, inspiring the next generation of legal professionals.
The students receiving this award were presented with a certificate and a $200 voucher. They also received an invitation to attend a celebratory morning tea. During this event, they met and engaged with the Partners and Lawyers of the firm, creating an opportunity for meaningful interactions.
This year the recipents were Regan Gay (Berwick Secondary College), Emilia Klarica (St Margarets Berwick Grammar), Navish Prashadkumar (Nosal High School), Yashodha Kahanda Gamage (Beaconhills), Amy Hallinan (Lakeside College), Huzaima Amjad (Pakenham Secondary School), Claire Carlile (Koo Wee Rup Secondary College), Katerina Mavroudis (Casey Grammar), Isabella Badelian (Hillcrest Christian College), Tricia Gonsalvez (St Francis Xavier)and Aiyana Rajakaruna (Haileybury).
In speaking with the Pakenham Gazette, Principal Lawyer and Partner of the firm Matthew Abraham spoke about how Duffy & Simon lay the foundations for lifelong networks and opportunities. He said “It’s fantastic for us to be able to give back to schools in the area. It’s an opportunity for us to recognise the students and connect with those students as they move through high school to university.”
“A lot of students end up in university doing a law degree and we are lucky enough to have a few of those students come through our office. We have had law award winners do our clerkship program where they can get a feel of being a lawyer; working inside the firm and gaining practical experience. We also have had law award winners who have gone to become lawyers for us”.
