Cynthia began her career in the Netherlands as a Senior Associate at the Court of Appeal, where she built a successful career and gained extensive experience. Seeking new opportunities, she moved to Australia, where she embarked on a new chapter. With her previous experience and studies not recognised in Australia, she went on to complete a Bachelor of Laws while simultaneously running a successful business.

Cynthia Bossema

Before Cynthia completed her Bachelor of Laws degree in Australia, she had already earned both a Bachelor and Master of Laws in the Netherlands. During her time in the Netherlands, Cynthia worked for six years as a Senior Associate to Judges at the Court of Appeal in The Hague. In this role, she was responsible for researching case law and legislation to aid in judicial decision-making. She also drafted various legal documents and actively participated in chamber discussions and the decision-making process.

Upon moving to Australia, Cynthia managed to balance her passion for law with her love of dressage. While running a successful high-level dressage business, she pursued and completed her Bachelor of Laws at Deakin University. Her hard work and dedication culminated in her admission to practice Australian law in late 2025.

Outside of her professional life, Cynthia enjoys spending time with friends, hiking, riding her horses, and competing in dressage.

Kira graduated from ACU with a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce in 2023. After completing her Professional Legal Training with the College of Law, she was admitted to practice in early 2024.

Prior to finishing her degree, Kira worked as a Law Clerk with Duffy & Simon where she worked closely with the Family Law team. Her exceptional eye for detail and kind and caring nature makes her a great fit for working with clients. She brings a thoughtful and empathetic approach to her work, ensuring that her clients feel heard and supported.

Saydaal’s passion for law initiated at the tender age of 6, inspired by his uncle’s career in Law. Over the years, his commitment to the profession has only grown stronger, driven by a desire to enhance equality and fairness within the community. These values have been the cornerstone of his pursuit of a legal career, guiding him through his academic and professional endeavours.

Saydaal graduated from Deakin University in 2024 completing a double degree in a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Politics and International Relations and was admitted to practice in early 2025.

During his university years Saydaal worked in a criminal law clinic where he was able to gain a wide range of exposure within the legal domain. He followed on to then undertake the Duffy & Simon Clerkship, which led him to being offered a permanent position as a Graduate Lawyer, specialising in Commercial and Corporate Law before being admitted.

Outside of the professional realm, Saydaal loves to watch and play soccer. Saydaal has been a continuous and lifelong member of the Hampton Park United Sparrows. He also loves to travel and explore the world, putting a heavy emphasis on both immersing himself and learning of different cultures.

Nicholas McKinnon

Nicholas completed a double degree in Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce at Deakin University. He joined Duffy & Simon, while still an undergraduate, as a Law Clerk and has since graduated and admitted to practice in July 2022.

He covers a broad range of legal areas including Commercial Litigation, Retirement Villages, Debt Recovery and Sale and Purchase of Businesses.

Outside of work Nicholas has a deep passion for music, having played the drums in bands since a very young age. He is an avid sports fan, especially when it comes to tennis, basketball, and AFL.

Nicholas is also a volunteer director on the board of directors for “Our Community Company Ltd” where he helps with the running of the Community Bank Branches in Lang Lang, Koo Wee Rup, Pearcedale, Tooradin and Narre Warren South.

Myf Cummerford

Prior to completing her law degree, Myf accumulated 20 years of experience in law reform, regulation and advocacy in the areas of health and human rights law, making submissions to State and Commonwealth government inquiries and presenting internationally at the United Nations. Her work contributed to the passage of world-first amendments to the Victorian Assisted Reproductive Treatment Act in 2016, known as ‘Narelle’s Law’.

Myf now applies her advocacy and negotiation skills to obtaining favourable outcomes for clients across a broad range of matters, including building and construction contractual advice and disputes, civil litigation, compulsory land acquisitions, governance and regulatory compliance, property, planning and environment issues.

Adam relocated to Pakenham in 2013 and has since become an integral part of the local community. Tamara Hawkins

Tamara has been working in the legal industry for 20 years. Beginning her career in 2006 as a paralegal she began working mostly in the field of property, conveyancing, wills, and probate while dabbling in other areas such as family law, commercial, insurance and litigation on occasion too. However, since commencing with Duffy & Simon in 2016 Tamara moved solely into a specific conveyancing only role.

Tamara specialises in residential conveyancing, transfers between spouses, family law transfer, off the plan purchases, commercial conveyancing and PEXA transactions and loves to ensure that each client has a friendly, enjoyable, and stress-free experience.

Outside of work Tamara loves spending time with her husband, two children and cavoodle. Much of her time away from the office is spent as a “dance mum” for her daughters and their calisthenics club, organising events and managing children and teenagers. Tamara and her family live on acreage in Gembrook so she also enjoys spending much of her time outdoors and then snuggling up in front of the fire with a good book. Tamara is Vice President of her local school council too.

Kristie has a strong community focus, being responsible for organising the Annual Cancer Council Morning Tea within the firm, fundraising for Oxfam by completing the 100km Oxfam Trail Walk 2018, taking up the role of team manager in the local junior football team, and working with numerous charities in the local area. Donald Duffy

Don, the esteemed founder of Duffy & Simon, boasts an impressive legacy with over 50 years of experience in the legal field. With a solid grounding in Property Law, Will and Estate Planning and Business Law, Don provides decisive and thoughtful leadership on property subdivisions, developments, property sales and estate planning including the preparation of wills, trusts, and powers of attorney. Don has a wide range of experience in complex commercial matters covering areas such as the sale and purchase of businesses, leases, business structure, asset protection and providing a legal outcome his clients can build upon, so they can take their business to the next level.

With significant experience in the area of complex property transactions and subdivisions, Don has advised and provided guidance to successful property developers, including properties carrying significant environmental issues.

Kylie has over 20 years’ experience in the legal industry. Over that time, she has built up skills and knowledge in the area of Probate and Estate administration, including various types of applications for a Grant of Representation and re-seal of interstate Grants of Probate.

Kylie has an extensive knowledge of the law and procedures in relation deceased Estate administration and has prepared and completed many varied complex applications and estate matters.   Her approach to dealing with these matters is professional and practical whilst keeping in mind the sensitive and compassionate nature of dealing with clients in this area of law.

Her aim is to provide a service that alleviates the stress of dealing with the process of administration of a deceased estate, particularly with various organisations when collecting estate assets, dealing with liabilities and all other organisations relating to completion of administration so that the client can be relieved of such tasks at this most difficult time in his or her life.

Matthew has also acted in complex commercial disputes across multiple jurisdictions including the Supreme Court of Victoria advising his clients on their contractual and common law rights whilst guiding his clients through the complex and stressful Court process.

After growing up in the local area and through his close community ties, Matthew aims to assist his clients in understanding their business model, key drivers and motivations, whilst building long lasting relationships, helping Matthew to deliver to his client’s their desired outcome.

Andrew works in the areas of commercial contracts, sales of business, corporate & individual succession planning, property development, estate litigation and trusts.

He has worked in these areas since being admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria in 1993. He was also admitted to the High Court of Australia in 1996.

Andrew has over the years advised some of the wealthiest families in the country in areas such as succession planning, trusts, corporate structuring and estate litigation. He also advises and acts for the Roman Catholic Trusts Corporation for the Diocese of Sale, the Bishop of Sale and the Diocese of Sale Catholic Education Limited.

In previous positions Andrew was a Senior Associate at Maddocks as well as Senior Counsel with the National Australia Bank Ltd.

As part of his community service Andrew has held Board and Advisory roles with St. Patrick’s Primary School (Chair and member), Pakenham, Gippsland Community College (Chair and member), Warragul and St. Joseph’s College, Newtown. He is currently the Chair of St Joseph’s College Foundation Committee. He was also heavily involved with local surf lifesaving (Apollo Bay SLSC) and the Victorian Surf Lifesaving Association where he was Chief Investigative Officer as well as a member of the Constitutional and Judicial Boards.

Andrew’s interests include viticulture, cricket (currently Andrew is President of the Jan Juc Cricket Club), rugby league and reading.
